National framework, local delivery

We’re a national organisation with a local structure that’s focused on the needs of local children.

Our partner organisations – universities, colleges and local authorities – determine the structure and lead the delivery of Children’s University within their area.

This approach makes sure that the programme adapts to specific environments and meets the needs of local communities. It also helps children and families to forge a strong sense of attachment to their local centre.

University and college involvement

Universities and colleges are at the heart of what we do. You share our ethos and passion for tackling inequality and improving social mobility.

We believe that all children should have an awareness of the full range of life and learning opportunities. Use our model as a framework to engage younger children, families and local communities in active learning.

You can provide access to world-class facilities, resources and expertise, opening children's eyes to opportunities they may never have experienced or dreamt of.

We have a collective responsibility to do all we can to enhance the life chances of children across Scotland. Join us and help give every child a fair chance to flourish and thrive.

A local Children's University centre is a partnership of different organisations. One organisation will take on a lead role, but every partner makes a commitment to contribute to the delivery of a local ambition.

We aim to establish local centres across Scotland. Universities and colleges are crucial to that expansion.

Further and higher education institutions are uniquely placed to take the lead in collaborative efforts to engage communities in learning.
